Shikha Raman, a fifth grader at Power Upper Elementary School, 34740 Rhonswood Street, Farmington Hills was declared the winner of the 'I Can Make History' 2011 Poetry Competition. Sponsored by Kroger, CBS Radio and 98.7 AMP radio , 'I Can Make History' is a contest organized in the month of Feburary commemorating the Black History Month in Michigan.
In the recently declared results Shikha Raman was congratulated by the contest organizers for honoring and recognizing the efforts of the Black leaders with beautiful poetic words.Her poem was selected amongst the hundreds of entries accepted by Kroger. As a prize, Shikha recieved a Dell Inspiron 15R-2nd Gen - Intel Core i5 laptop and a certificate recognizing excellence in poetry.
