'How fortunate Jharkhand is with resources?'

in Blog

Ranchi: Jharkhand has natural resources in abundance, so also malnutrition, poverty, unemployment and a host of other problems, Chief Minister Arjun Munda said on Saturday, October 21st.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony in honour of Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir, Munda said the irony was that the state has enormous wealth underground, besides the vast forestry area which balances the environment. "... Yet the state has malnutrition, poverty, unemployment and other problems either in the forest area or in the coal-iron ore belt... Socio-economic problems are attributed to the low human development index," Munda said.
Noting that Justice Kabir knows Jharkhand very well as he had been Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court earlier, Munda suggested if one could ponder over Jharkhand's two extreme sides.

U.S. Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra faces heat after airing a 30 second campaign commerical during the Super Bowl last Sunday. Pete is running for a seat in congress against the Michigan incumbent Debbie Stabenow. The adverstisement upsets the sentiments of many in the country. Pete Hoeskstra stereo type for the Asians is evident as his ad portrays images of a young Asian girl accusing his opponent of heavy spending in broken English. Filmed in California, the ad is makes viewers believe its China. With the sounds of the gong and the young girl riding a bike, it is pretty convincing. Ours get very good. We take your jobs. Thank you, Debbie Spenditnow."

How Much or What to Govern- Article by Umesh Rohatgi

in Novi, Blog

Any Governance which empowers itself, than the public is useless and defeating its own purpose, because the smaller the Governance the better the public. There are five fundamental problems in our structure of Governance they are as follows. Our Government wishes to control each and every aspects of our life for its citizen than empower to act freely. Basic problem with this type of Governance is as soon as the freedom to act is taken away creativity of public is lost in jungle of laws rules etc. Planned control atmosphere does not work always as planned because of limitation of the people who planned it. There should be public opinion should be taken and also consider what is feasibility to govern and how much I will cost and can we afford and it is serving the majority.

Nitish Kumar, the man who changed Bihar and gained respect for the state

in Blog

PATNA: There's an apocryphal story about Bihar, a sprawling state on the Gangetic plains of India that for decades held the dubious honour of being the most violent, poverty-stricken and corrupt in the land.

A Japanese minister visiting in the 1990s, shocked at the decrepit buildings, the darkness at night even in the centre of town and the crumbling roads, declared that it was all solvable.

"Give me three years," he told a state leader, "and I can turn Bihar into Japan."

"That's nothing," came the laconic reply from his host. "Give me three days and I will turn Japan into Bihar."

Reuters Report: India still a foreign investment hot spot - E&Y

Written by: By Henry Foy MUMBAI (Reuters) - Foreign direct investment in India is set to swell in coming years as investors stomach a lack of transparency, poor infrastructure and policy paralysis in their search for growth, professional services firm Ernst & Young (E&Y) said in a report. Overseas investment in Asia's third-largest economy rose for the first time in three years in 2011, the report noted, as global investors put their faith in rising salaries, an expanding middle-class and a large and cheap labour force.

"The fundamentals that make India attractive to investors remain intact," Farokh T. Balsara, head of markets at Ernst & Young India, wrote in the report released on Sunday.

Sleaze still plagues India. But one place is fighting back- Bihar

A recent article on Bihar by Sudip Mazumdar in www.foreignpolicy.com provides an interesting insight into the status of corruption in Bihar; comparing it to the corruption rate around the country. Bihar is fighting it back with success. Economists Bibek Debroy and Laveesh Bhandari in their book "Corruption in India" have concluded that with the power of "political will" Bihar is now the least corrupt state in India. A very promising outlook for a state once tainted with lawlessness and with a corrupt reputation.

2. The Persian invaders converted it into Hindu. The name ` Hindustan ’ combines Sindhu and Hindu and thus refers to the land of the Hindus.

Detroit Downtown is amongst the top 10 American Downtowns

in Detroit, Blog

Recognition for Detroit- it's at #9 in the list of top 10 American Downtowns!

It’s no secret that the city of Detroit has fallen on tough times. Its downtown core has fared much better than the surrounding neighborhoods, but still has its share of vacant buildings and a frequent dearth of foot traffic. Nonetheless, Detroit’s downtown is one of the most architecturally impressive in the country, largely because the city began to decline before others began urban renewal efforts. These efforts would ultimately scar the cores of those cities. Detroit’s downtown, then, is a remarkable architectural testament to pre-World War II styles of construction. It also remains a center of employment in the greater metro areas, and it has revitalized in recent years with the addition of restaurants and sports facilities. And you can’t forget the legendary automobile manufacturing meccas of Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler, the original symbols of 20th century American innovation.
Here is the list:

GM reclaims the world's top automaker title!

A great news for the Detroit Auto Industry- GM is once again the largest automaker in the world!

It's official. General Motors is again the world's largest automaker with global sales of 9.03 million vehicles in 2011. That was 11% higher than Volkswagen, which last week reported 2011 global sales of 8.16 million.

Toyota, which held the symbolic title from 2008 through 2010, has not yet reported its final 2011 sales, but last month, the Japanese automaker estimated it sold 7.9 million vehicles globally last year. Toyota's sales were constrained by production cuts caused by the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami in northeast Japan, and later in the year by flooding in Thailand.
