Detroit, MI (USA): Members of the Michigan Bihar (MIBIHAR) in Detroit area on November 10 celebrated Diwali with much fanfare and enthusiasm in the presence of over 300 people hailing from Bihar and Jharkhand, and also from the local areas.

President of MIBIHAR Saurabh Kumar and his fellow team members, after meticulous planning involving over 20 thousand hours, held the event to mark the festival of light at a grand level.
The event, that was made possible by generous donations by over 15 local business houses, began with a Ganesh vandana sung by Shoba Prasad and Rajani Sinha and ended with a thematic fashion show as a tribute to the Bollywood legends who passed away in 2012.

Subodh Kant Sahay is a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represents the Ranchi constituency of Jharkhand, and is a member of the Indian National Congress(INC) political party. He is the Cabinet Minister for Tourism. Subodh Kant Sahay was born in Latehar, Bihar to Brijdeo Sahay and Indrani Devi.He did his B.Sc., LL.B. from A N College, Patna and Ranchi University.Subodh Kant Sahay was actively involved in the Non-Aligned Student and Youth Organisation (NASYO). He participated in Jai Prakash Movement.He has been re-elected as the MP from Ranchi in the elections in May 2009. Sahay served as Minister Of State for Food Processing Industries in the First Manmohan Singh Cabinet from 2004-2009. On the second Congress victory in the 2009 elections which saw Manmohan Singh continue as Prime Minister, Sahay was elevated to Cabinet rank holding the same Food Processing Industries portfolio.During the ministry shuffle in January 2011 he was given more prominent portfolio and became the Cabinet minister for Ministry of Tourism (India)

MIBIHAR Bihar Diwas 2012 - MI gets mentioned in TELEGRAPH article by PIYUSH KUMAR TRIPATHI

The camaraderie of Biharis crossed several boundaries as the state completed 100 years of existence.

A day after the people of Bihar converged at Gandhi Maidan from March 22 to 24, their counterparts in faraway Michigan gathered at St Paul’s Latvian Church in Farmington Hills, a northwestern suburb in Metro Detroit, to celebrate the centenary year of their homeland. Bihar Divas 2012 was organised in the United States by MIBIHAR — Friends of Bihar and Jharkhand in Michigan. Over 150 people took part in the event, which was organised on March 25th.
