BLACK HISTORY MONTH
BY: SHIKHA RAMAN

When you look at me, what do you see?
Do you see the color in me?

Seeing the color means you don’t care,
How the world changed to equal and fair.

Black History Month honors what happened then,
How Whites fought with Black men.

A lot of people risked their lives,
But even more, they survived.

Rosa Parks, Martin Luther are just a few,
The People who changed our countries view.

I feel that Black History Month is great,
It shows that love is more powerful than hate.

Black History Month represents the fight for liberty,
A time to celebrate and honor their victory.

When I think of the past, I am thankful,
Because I couldn’t have freedom without their hard battle.

Today we celebrate with peace and love,
Because if we’re together, we can fly like doves.
