TiE Young Entrepreneurs Program for High School Students- Registration Deadline September 6th

TiE Detroit, the Detroit Chapter of the global not-for-profit organization TiE – Talent, Ideas, Enterprise, has launched a new program to further its mission of fostering entrepreneurship through hands on mentoring. The new program titled TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) targets a very motivated population segment of high school children by teaching them the basics of entrepreneurship though an intensive mentoring program. TIE is committed to creating and nurturing future generation of entrepreneurs and leaders who make positive contribution to not only building a strong network of youth within their local communities but also leverage TiE’s global network to create value for global business ecosystems.

TYE accomplishes this objective by offering training and mentoring program to selected high school students who learn about the challenges and rewards of becoming an entrepreneur. This 9 month long programs encourages the youth to get involved in the value creation process by exposing them to the entrepreneurial mindset. Seasoned entrepreneurs and mentors coach high school children (grades 9-12) on a business-focused curriculum. The program culminates to a global Business Plan Competition and nurtures creativity, self-confidence, leadership and overall development of the students.

TiE Detroit’s TYE Class of 2012 will be joining high school students from around the world as teams from 17 other chapters from 4 continents around the globe launch the TYE 2012 program in their respective chapters. These locations will include 9 cities from the US and Canada (Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Carolinas, Seattle, San Diego, Vancouver and Washington DC), 6 cities from India (Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Hubli, Kolkata and Ahmedabad), Melbourne, Australia, and London, UK.

Here are some key facts about this program:

·All faculty will be composed of established business people in the community.
·All faculty is teaching free of cost.
·Classes are free of cost. Only cost is for the student to get student membership with TIE, which will give them access to all TIE chapters globally.
·There will be state level and global competition for business plan.
·For good business plans, TIE has venture capitals who invest in helping these kids in getting the capital for starting business.
·For good Business plans, TIE will provide mentoring for setting up the business and future needs.
·Students have to be motivated and must commit their time for these classes.
